She loved the drama. And, at the end of the last scene, when he noticed that the beautiful woman next to him had tears in her eyes, he asked her for a date. <br><br>It was the beginning of a beautiful summer together. It only ended because Lisa had to return to Canterbury to finish her last year of law school. He had his life in Paris. He had a job, an apartment, his friends, his family. Finally he turned to Lisa and said, <em>&#8220;I&#8217;m so sorry, but I can&#8217;t leave Paris. It&#8217;s my home.&#8221;<\/em>  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block stk-4ed32d1\" data-block-id=\"4ed32d1\"><div class=\"stk-row stk-inner-blocks stk-block-content stk-content-align stk-4ed32d1-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-column stk-block-column stk-column stk-block stk-77ff081\" data-v=\"4\" data-block-id=\"77ff081\"><div class=\"stk-column-wrapper stk-block-column__content stk-container stk-77ff081-container stk--no-background stk--no-padding\"><div class=\"stk-block-content stk-inner-blocks stk-77ff081-inner-blocks\">\n<p>Lisa nodded. <em>&#8220;It was worth a try,&#8221;<\/em> she said. They embraced for a long time. Then Lisa turned away and boarded the ship. Wait! I love you!&#8221; <\/em>but it was too late. The boat had left the shore. She had wanted him to go with her. He realized too late that he wanted to go. He lost a great opportunity. <br>He missed the boat.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Missing the boat<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In the story, Sam literally misses the boat. He wasn&#8217;t able to &#8220;catch it&#8221;. However, the idiom &#8220;miss the boat&#8221; can be used to describe any situation in which someone loses an opportunity. Here are some examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>If you don&#8217;t apply for the job soon, you might miss the boat on this opportunity.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>We were considering investing in that startup, but after waiting too long, we missed the boat and now it&#8217;s too late.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>She felt like she missed the boat on the latest fashion trends because she hadn&#8217;t updated her wardrobe in years.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online English classes with me<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m still accepting new students for my online English classes.
